Meredith Mathews, MD MPH
Chief Medical Officer, VillageHealthDr. Mathews is a nephrologist with extensive experience in health plan and medical group management including the development and implementation of programs in clinical quality, Disease Management, Utilization Management, Credentialing and Risk Management. He is committed to helping organizations improve the health of their patient populations. He is also skilled at creating and executing clinical programs which meet the business needs of client organizations.
Dr. Mathews is Chief Medical Officer for VillageHealth a company focused on coordinating comprehensive individualized care plans tailored for the specialized needs of patients with renal disease. Prior to joining VillageHealth, Dr. Mathews was Chief Medical Officer for LifeMasters Supported Self Care Inc, disease management company that helps individuals with chronic conditions take control of their health. Earlier in his career, Dr. Mathews was a principal at Dorsey Health Strategies LLC, and the Chief Medical Officer at both the Medica Health Plan in Minnesota and at Premaera Blue Cross of Washington and Alaska. He practiced nephrology in Seattle for 18 years and served as Associate Professor of Medicine at the University of Wasington.
Dr. Mathews is board certified in Nephrology and received his medical degree and master's degree in Public Health from University of Washington.

Wendy Wilson, MD
Vice President Clinical OperationsDr. Wilson leads VillageHealth's distributed disease management operations, including oversight of our field and telephonic teams and the development and implementation of new care management services, processes, and tools.
Dr. Wilson has twenty plus years of healthcare experience as a practicing physician and consultant. As a consultant, she has worked in the healthcare provider, payer and life science sectors, concentrating on the development and improvement of care management programs and services; building integrated case management, disease management and wellness programs for many industry leading organizations, including CIGNA, Highmark, Wellpoint, Amerigroup, UPMC, Healthways, and Health Dialog.
Prior to entering consulting, Dr. Wilson worked in a variety of academic medical settings. During her practice at an academic medical center in the Midwest, she originated many of the institution's initial clinical pathways and programming in Orthopedics and Rehab (Joints and Trauma) as well as Stroke. The work included continuum program development and outcomes management automation in collaboration with her Chief Information Officer. Over her years in practice, her clinical and administrative responsibilities included a variety of Medical Directorships (in hospital, subacute and ambulatory practices) and chairperson of multiple quality, operations and outcomes councils at system, departmental and practice levels.
In addition to her M.D., she holds an M.S. in Biomedical Engineering, both from Case Western Reserve University.

Allen R. Nissenson, MD, FACP

Dr. Nissenson is a professor of medicine and director of the dialysis program at the David Geffen School of Medicine at the University of California at Los Angeles, where he has developed a comprehensive program for dialysis administration, patient care, teaching, and research. His research as president-elect of the Southern California End-Stage Renal Disease Network has included extensive clinical trials of new devices and drugs related to renal disease. Dr. Nissenson is also the co-principal investigator on a recently obtained NIH Center grant looking at issues of disparities in healthcare delivery for patients with CKD, direct¬ing health outcomes and public policy initiatives.
Dr. Nissenson has authored dialysis textbooks and more than 340 publications in the fields of nephrology, dialysis, anemia management, and health care delivery and policy. He was also the founding editor-in-chief of Advances in Renal Replacement Therapy, a journal of the National Kidney Foundation, and is currently editor-in-chief of Hemodialysis International, the journal of the International Society for Hemodialysis. He developed and chairs an annual second-year nephrology fellows preceptorship program serving more than 65 fellows.

James Katsikas, MD

Dr. Katsikas serves as a Regional Medical Director and is a member of the VillageHealth Disease Management Medical Advisory Board. In this capacity, Dr. Katsikas is responsible for leading the regional Quality Care Committees and overseeing the VillageHealth Disease Management medical management process throughout the state of Florida.
Dr. Katsikas has more than 30 years of experience as a practicing nephrologist in both hospital and freestanding unit environments, and currently serves as clinical associate professor of medicine at the University Of Miami School Of Medicine.
Dr. Katsikas has held numerous positions in nephrology-related organizations. These include his roles as president of the Florida Society of Nephrology; chairman of the NKF Dade County Medical Advisory Committee; and Executive Committee member of ESRD Network 7.

William D. Mattern, MD
Regional Medical DirectorEmeritus Professor Medicine, University of North Carolina School of Medicine Chairman of the Board, North Carolina Healthcare Information and Communications Alliance Past President, American Kidney Fund
Dr. Mattern is both a Regional Medical Director and member of the Medical Advisory Board of VillageHealth Disease Management. In these capacities, he is responsible for directing Quality Care Committee activities and overseeing the VillageHealth Disease Management medical management process in North Carolina. He also consults on the clinical development of the VillageHealth Disease Management care management information system.
Dr. Mattern is an emeritus professor of medicine at the UNC School of Medicine in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. He has held a number of appointments at UNC including associate chairman of the Department of Medicine, senior associate dean for Academic Affairs at the Medical School, and medical director for the UNC Hospitals Dialysis Program.
Dr. Mattern is widely published in clinical nephrology, medical education, and the use of computers in nephrology. He is past president, and current chairman of the board of directors of the North Carolina Healthcare Information and Communications Alliance, and past president and an emeritus member of the board of directors of the American Kidney Fund. He is also past chair of the Informatics Committee of the Renal Physicians Association and of the steering committee for the "Vision" software project for dialysis units sponsored by CMS.
